About the Program
May 1, 2026 6 PM & 8:15 PM May is for Miles! Celebrate one of the coolest moments in jazz history with a tribute to Miles Davis and his legendary Live at Newport 1966–67 set. Recorded at the Newport Jazz Festival, this performance catches Miles and his “Second Great Quintet” right as they were shaking things up—mixing structure with total freedom and changing the sound of jazz in the process.
The Ziad Jazz Quartet, led by Ziad Rabie on saxophone, with Al Strong on trumpet, Lovell Bradford on piano, Kobie Watkins on drums, and Ron Brendle on bass, brings that energy back to life. Expect bold solos, tight chemistry, and that signature Miles vibe that still feels fresh today.
