About the Program
Calling all Europhiles!
The Bechtler is dedicating its May Wednesday Night Live to all things Eurovision. Join us on May 14 as Charlotte’s home for global culture goes full force into celebrating the pop culture phenomenon known as Eurovision.
The longest running international song competition, Eurovision allows nations of Europe (and a few extras) to compete head-to-head in a week of original song. Held this year in Basel, Switzerland, Eurovision always delivers high drama and camp.
The museum's lobby will transform into an after-hours club vibe with music by DJ Indigenous while clips from past Eurovision contests play in the background.
New to Eurovision? You only need check out the Will Ferrell and Rachel McAdams film, Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga, for a tongue-in-cheek look inside this annual song tradition and understand how ABBA and Måneskin can live together.
Worked up a thirst? We've got you covered with our cash bar, serving up beer, wine, soft drinks, and that summer staple: Aperol Spritz. Explore our galleries for a taste of how art encourages cross-cultural ideas and the flow of people across geographical borders.
Our free celebration kicks off at 5 PM and runs until to 9 PM. RSVPs are encouraged!
