About the Program
Discover the dynamic sounds of contemporary Mexican composers in conjunction with the exhibition Virginia Jaramillo: Principle of Equivalence, which traces the Mexican-American artist’s practice from the mid-1960s to the present. Featuring examples of her early work, paintings from her iconic Curvilinear series, her handmade paper works, and a selection of recent paintings, the exhibition reveals her enduring engagement with and significant contributions to abstraction. Inspired by Jaramillo’s work, this concert will feature the genre-blending compositions of Arturos Márquez, Gabriela Ortiz, and Manuel Ponce, which merge traditional Mexican elements with modern classical music.
TICKETS: Concert tickets are $25 for members, $30 for nonmembers, and $5 for students (with proof of ID). FREE tickets for ages 10 and under. Advance registration is required to guarantee seating.
