About the Program
Join Chakaia Booker for an artist talk in conjunction with Weighted Balance, the Bechtler’s exhibition of her sculptures and wall reliefs made from recycled tires. Galleries will be open for viewing before and after the talk, giving you a chance to explore the works up close. Booker will reflect on her journey from early works to large-scale installations and share how she transforms industrial materials into dynamic forms inspired by textiles, labor, and machinery—exploring themes of industry, sustainability, and renewal.
Stay after the talk for a casual reception with a cash bar. The galleries will remain open, so you can continue exploring the exhibition and spend more time with the artworks at your own pace.
Private Reception
Supporting members ($250+) are invited to a private reception on the 2nd Floor Terrace at 6 PM, before the artist talk. Meet Chakaia Booker and mingle with fellow Bechtler patrons.
