About the Program
On Thursday, April 2nd, join Chakaia Booker for a conversation highlighting Weighted Balance, the Bechtler’s exhibition of monumental sculptures and wall reliefs made from recycled tires. Galleries will be open for viewing before and after the talk, giving you a chance to explore the works up close. Booker will reflect on her journey from early works to large-scale installations and share how she transforms industrial materials into dynamic forms inspired by textiles, labor, and machinery—exploring themes of industry, sustainability, and renewal.
Stay after the talk for a casual reception with a cash bar. The galleries will remain open, so you can continue exploring the exhibition and spend more time with the artworks at your own pace.
Donor Reception
Firebird, Curator’s, Director’s, and Patron Circle donors are invited to a private donor reception on the 2nd Floor Terrace at 6 PM, prior to the artist talk. Donors will have the opportunity to meet Chakaia Booker and enjoy a special gathering with fellow supporters.
