About the Program

Jazz at the Bechtler welcomes back trombonist, Rick Simerly to celebrate the brilliance of Carl Fontana, one of the most influential trombonists in jazz history. Known for his silky-smooth technique, lightning-fast articulation, and cool West Coast style, Fontana brought a new level of virtuosity and lyricism to the instrument. From his early work with Woody Herman and Stan Kenton to his standout solo performances, Fontana left an indelible mark on modern jazz. The Ziad Jazz Quartet will pay tribute with a program featuring swinging standards and bebop classics that showcase the spirit and sound of this jazz great.

Also performing with the Ziad Jazz Quartet will be Charles Craig (piano), Kobie Watkins (drums) & Ron Brendle (bass).

TICKETS

Tickets are $25 for Bechtler members; $30 for nonmembers; free for Jazz Affinity Group members. Advance ticket registration is required for all shows to guarantee seating.
