WELLS FARGO CULTURAL CAMPUS

Located on the southern edge of uptown Charlotte, the Wells Fargo Cultural Campus brings together natural space, culture and innovative urban architecture to enhance the vibrancy of the city. This dynamic development transforms nearly two city blocks, bounded by Tryon, Church and Stonewall Streets. It brings progressive new venues for art and live performances as well as additional office, parking and retail elements to Charlotte’s Center City.

The total project encompasses approximately four acres on South Tryon Street, featuring vibrant plazas, public art and retail. Centerpieces of the project include the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art, the Mint Museum Uptown, the Knight Theater, the Harvey B. Gantt Center for African American Arts + Culture and the Duke Energy Center – a 48-story office tower topped by a computerized light panel that will illuminate the campus with a variety of celebratory colors.

A 2,200-space parking garage serves the campus and is located below grade to enhance the pedestrian ambiance of the development. Bechtler visitor parking is located in this garage with entrances on West Stonewall and South Church Streets. (The Church Street entrance is currently closed).

The Wells Fargo Cultural Campus is slated for completion in fall 2010 with the opening of the Mint Museum Uptown.
