Mid-century art meets mid-century music on the first Friday of each month at the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art. Concerts are performed by the Ziad Jazz Quartet.
June 7 - Tribute to Duke Ellington
One of the greatest musicians of the 20th century, Duke Ellington pushed boundaries with his music, daring to change melodies and song constructions in ways that had not been done before. His compositions became the essence of American culture in the early and mid-1900s and still entertain listeners today. Song selections will include Take the “A” Train, Satin Doll, In a Mellow Tone, It Don’t Mean a Thing (If It Ain’t Got That Swing), Prelude to a Kiss and Sophisticated Lady. Read more.
