Music and Museum
LOCATION: FOURTH-FLOOR GALLERY
The art of Edgar Degas and the music of Claude Debussy will merge into a sight and sound experience when the Fire Pink Trio performs Modernism and Sensuality, a chamber music concert of virtuosity and sensuality surrounded by the energy and vibrancy of the Bechtler collection.
Named after the beautiful North American wildflower that covers the mountains in late spring, fire pinks resemble the strokes of a painter’s brush, a gentle and delicate touch that can be felt in the works of Degas and Debussy. Pieces by Dan Locklair and Arnold Bax will also be peformed.
Music and Museum First Tuesdays concerts are performed at noon and 5:30 p.m. The Modernism and Sensuality 5:30 p.m. concert is presented as part of the 2013 Ulysses Festival: Charlotte’s Spring Festival of the Arts. The Festival brings the theme Brave New Worlds: Technology & Art to life throughout the month of April with lectures, exhibits and performances that use the latest in modern technology to merge the visual power of art with the beauty of music and dance.
