Making Space: 5 Women Changing the Face of Architecture
The Bechtler Museum of Modern Art screens the documentary Making Space: 5 Women Changing the Face of Architecture (trailer, 50 minutes) November 12 during the museum’s Modernism + Film program.
Making Space: 5 Women Changing the Face of Architecture is a full-length documentary that captures the lives, passions and work of five world-renowned female architects: Annabelle Selldorf (New York), Marianne McKenna (Toronto), Kathryn Gustafson (Seattle and London), Farshid Moussavi (London) and Odile Decq (Paris).
Highlighting a variety of urban, landscape and sustainable mediums, the film offers a penetrating look at these female contemporary architects. Shot cinema verité style, the film features interviews of its subjects at home and on-site at some of the most impressive projects across the globe.
Selected for viewing at the 2014 Architecture & Design Film Festival in New York, the documentary also features appearances by other notable participants including Meryl Streep; Paul Goldberger, Pulitzer Prize-winning architecture critic; Paola Antonelli, Senior Curator, Deptartment of Architecture & Design at MoMA; Emilia Terragni, architectural curator and writer; and Hans Ulrich Obrist, art historian and curator at London's Serpentine Gallery.
An event reception with a cash-only bar and free light bites begins at 6 p.m. in the Bechtler lobby followed by the presentation and film screening at 7 p.m. in the auditorium.
