Modern Mondays
LOCATION: CLASSROOM
FEBRUARY 25
Modern Mondays programs provide an opportunity to interact with museum professionals, scholars and others who present a deeper understanding of works in the collection and on exhibition at the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art. On February 25, the Bechtler presents the lecture Traces: The Prints of Tàpies and Miró.
Complementing the exhibition Antoni Tàpies: Texture and Image (on view through March 18, 2013), this Modern Mondays program will explore printmaking by Antoni Tàpies and fellow Catalan artist Joan Miró. Both of these Bechtler collection artists used texture and calligraphy techniques in their printmaking process. The program will include a demonstration of lithography, intaglio, woodcut and silkscreen printmaking tools and methods.
Program presenter Tyler Starr is an Assistant Professor of Art at Davidson College. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Connecticut and a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Minnesota. His work has been featured in numerous exhibitions including the International Biennial of Contemporary Prints at the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Liège, Belgium and Tokyo Wonderwall 2009 at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Tokyo Japan.
