Modern Mondays
LOCATION: CLASSROOM
FEBRUARY 20
Visit the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art for Modern Mondays, an informal program designed to enhance the museum experience.
On February 20, Davidson College Associate Professor of English Dr. Ann Fox will present The Modern Body: Henri Matisse. The combination lecture and discussion will illustrate how modern art shapes the ways we imagine, think about, and define the body in art and in society. Members of the audience will be asked to participate in reading excerpts from the play P.H.*reaks: the Hidden History of People with Disabilities, which depicts Matisse who was diagnosed with cancer in 1941 and confined to a wheelchair after surgery.
The evening begins with a cash-bar reception at 6 p.m. in the museum lobby. The presentation begins at 6:30 p.m. Free with museum admission. Space is limited.
Purchase tickets online, by phone 704.353.9200 or at the visitor services desk.
