Modern Mondays

Modern Mondays

LOCATION: CLASSROOM

JANUARY 9

THIS EVENT IS SOLD OUT

Begin your week by getting your creative juices flowing at the Bechtler program series Modern Mondays. Modern Mondays provide an informal, interactive opportunity to enhance the museum experience.

Visit the museum January 9 for a Modern Mondays sculptural painting workshop led by Bechtler teaching artist Ginny Boyd. Participants will sketch works by Jean Tinguely, which are part of the exhibition Remembering Cascade:Tinguely’s Last Sculpture now on view in the second-floor gallery. Using the sketches, participants will then create their own Tinguely-inspired painting.

Jean Tinguely is best known for his kinetic sculptures, but he also represented the movement of his mechanical works in paintings and drawings.

Modern Mondays programs are free with museum admission. The evening begins at 6 p.m. with a cash bar featuring rum and Coke as the signature cocktail. The workshop begins at 6:30 p.m.

The workshop was limited to 25 participants and is now SOLD OUT.

Upcoming Modern Mondays events:

January 23 – Guided tour of the upcoming exhibition A Legacy of Friendship: Hans Bechtler’s Birthday Book with Bechtler President and CEO John Boyer.

February 6 – Conversations with Dr. Shaw Smith, Professor of Art History and Humanities at Davidson College, on how the Cubist aesthetic informed the work of Romare Bearden.
