Jazz at the Bechtler
It's going to be a hot, hot, hot Jazz at the Bechtler concert February 3. The Ziad Jazz Quartet will set the scene for romance while guest vocalist Toni Tupponce croons ballads to get you in the mood for love. Sarah Vaughan’s You Don’t Know What Love Is, Stevie Wonder’s All in Love is Fair and songs made famous by Dinah Washington and others round out this singing valentine.
Grammy Award Winner Sarah Vaughan (known by the nicknames “Sassy” and “The Divine One”) had a three octave range and is regarded as one of the greatest of all jazz singers. She was inducted into the Jazz Hall of Fame the same year she died, 1990.
Dinah Washington was noted for her gospel-inspired delivery and string of Top 10 R&B hits. She was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1993.
Jazz at the Bechtler is performed from 6 to 8 p.m. in the museum lobby and is free with museum admission. Cash bar. Museum galleries are open until 9 p.m.
