Family Day

Explore the art and artists in the Bechtler collection with your children through special art activities and family-focused museum tours during Family Day Saturday, January 12 from noon to 4:30 p.m. Drop in anytime during the afternoon.
Art activities will illustrate the methods and materials addressed by artist Alberto Giacometti whose work is on view in the exhibition Giacometti: Memory and Presence. Children ages 5 and older can create oil pastel monochromatic portraits, watercolor still life and pipe cleaner dancers. Interact with art in the Bechtler collection by participating in a museum-wide scavenger hunt and family-focused tour.
Admission to Family Day is free for children. Adults receive a discounted ticket price of $4. Museum members are free.
On Family Day, all children's merchandise in the museum store is discounted 10%. Chose from a wonderful selection of children's art books and contemporary toys.
Start Off the Day with the Charlotte Symphony's Lollipops Concert
Start off your day of family entertainment on January 12 with the Charlotte Symphony's Lollipops concert in the Knight Theater next door to the Bechtler. Pre-concert hands-on activities begin at 10 a.m. with the concert at 11 a.m. Project Trio puts their spin on the classical music experience in Dancin', Rockin' and Hip Hoppin'. Tickets are $15.50 to $24.50. After the concert, visit the Bechtler for Family Day festivities from noon to 4:30 p.m.
