Family Day
LOCATION: MUSEUM PLAZA, LOBBY AND THE GREEN PARK

Kids of all ages are invited to the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art Saturday, May 8 to unleash their creative energy while learning about the museum’s collection and architecture. Activities will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the museum plaza, in the lobby and across the street in The Green park.
Activates will include:
- Exploring portraiture through screen printing in the style of Andy Warhol
- Creating 3-D mobiles in the style of Alexander Calder
- Exploring Cubist portraits in the style of Pablo Picasso
- Sketching the museum and the Firebird sculpture
The Bechtler Family Day is presented in partnership with Rodgers Builders, the museum’s contractor. Volunteers from the company will be on-site to facilitate projects including the creation of a six-foot, Styrofoam replica of the museum that kids can help build. Rogers Builders will also have special construction tools on display.
Participants of all ages will have the opportunity to create a work of art on a 12-inch x12-inch canvas panel which will be joined with other art panels made that day and displayed later at Charlotte-area community service organizations.
All Family Day activities are free. Museum admission on May 8 is free for those under 18 years old; all others receive a discounted ticket price of $4.
