Senior Programming

Beginning in 2013, Senior Programming is specially designed for the senior population in assisted and retirement living environments. Programing consists of museum tours and art classes. Participants create artwork inspired by the Bechtler collection and modern art, while engaging in discussion and intellectual stimulation with their peers. Sponsored by Southminster, the Bechtler is able to reach underserved senior communities in Mecklenburg County.

I really enjoyed this class…please come back for another class.” – Participant

This stretched our abilities. We never get to do things like this.” – Participant

“It has been good for us to create and socialize.” - Participant

“Our center is always looking for new ways to reach our participants. During class participants helped each other and interacted well with staff. The activity was different from what our participants are used to doing, by the end of it they were surprised and excited with what they created. We hope to continue to partner with the Bechtler in the future. We all really enjoyed it! “ - Community Partner
